Vista - Vista Degradation

Vista Degradation

I installed Vista with the upgrade Advisor and did what it said. It
installed without a problem. Vista accepted all hardware except the Lexmark
Printer. Went to Mfgs. Website and downloaded the upgrade program. Now Vista
has no problem with it.
I decided to wait to Register my copy to be sure that I want to keep it.
I have all the available updates installed and they were all successful.
But... everyday the system degrades. I check System/performance every
other day and it has gone down in reliability From around 9.17 to 5.35.
My games at first played great. Now they play in 2D almost. The characters
look flat on the screen. The audio quits after a few minutes. The audio quits
when the CD/Rom stops. But the game can still continue. Like it is running
off a Virtual disk.
The games,CD.Rom and Visual work just fine in XP when I boot to it.
In the performance chart the number goes down on the days I did a driver
upgrade. (Recomended by Windows). Or it shows a "OS stopped working" on the
days I was booted to XP.
Any Ideas?
I was wondering if the system is degrading each day until I register Vista.

Re: Vista Degradation

I would suggest getting drivers from your OEM or from the hardware
manufacturer, especially for Sound and Display. Using Windows Update for
getting drivers may be, in fact, downgrading them. I would only use Windows
update for drivers if all other resources failed, and there was no other
choice available.

RE: Vista Degradation

Soryy about the add-on.
Is there a way to run IE6 on Vista? And get rid of IE7.

No, I think it's degrading each day until you remove vista.

Re: Vista Degradation

Since it won't use IE6 (That is a MS product) I guess it will not use other
brand explorers.

Re: Vista Degradation

Ray,
I am thinking about that.
Even though I don't like XP. I might just use it alone on this machine.
It just irks me that Vista is not working right.
I built this PC with the soul idea to run Vista.
It started out to be a money hog. To get all the components so Vista would
work.
Now it is a time hog. Trying to keep it running smooth.
With all the Hackers,Virus makers and software pirates I understand that MS
needed an OS that was built like Fort Knox.
But this OS is purely non-user friendly.
I used hard earned money to build a system and install Vista. With pure
faith that Vista was the answer to the constant changes accuring in the
electronic/media field.
I feel for the millions that will put out good money to stay up with the
times, coming, and finding this OS is lacking.
