| Guest | Is that true: XP restore points deleted by Vista in dual boot? I have just learned, that while having dual boot system (XP and Vista), each time I boot to Vista it will erase my restoring points (System Restore) in my Windows XP. Is that true? Where I can read more about that? Jack |

It cannot be avoided if the Vista installation is visible to XP. I reinstalled my Win XP 10 days ago (clean install). Manually I set my restore points (2 points), restore dual boot (Vista is on separate harddrive) and let Windows to update itself (my C drive has 160GB free space!) Yesterday, when I wanted to restore my XP to the earlier date I did not find any restore points, except one being set just yesterday (sic!) (is it co-accident ?) at 12:21:12 AM . The mistake on part was that I misunderstood your original post. Upon re-reading a bit more you posted that you are losing the restore points on XP. I read it the other way around. As pointed out in your other posting in the other newsgroup Vista does not remove the Restore Points in XP. Why MS does not warn users that installing particular update may cause lost of restoring points? No. Some updates do that to prevent the user from restoring to a point that would cause an issue for the updated files. Why isn't the user warned?
