remove programs from the "Open With" list

I would like to remove certain program entries from the "Open With" list
in the right-click context menu.

Any help with a registry fix is greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Marty

You can delete the entries from the 'OpenWithList' key

for the particular extension under

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts

Thanks for your reply.

I went to that key, there are no entries under OpenWithList only
(Default) REG_SZ. There are no programs listed there, though in the
right-click menu there are 5 or 6 listed under "Open With".

My machine is Vista, the registry edit for "Open With" menu is the same
method used on XP?

Cheers,
Marty

A couple of other places to check

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.<<particular_extension>>\OpenWithList
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\SystemFileAssociations\.<<particular_extension>>\\OpenWithList

Pretty similar to XP, by the looks of it, yes.
