Vista and telnet, how use?

Ok, by default Vista does not install the telnet client so I did that. I
used to be able to telnet out of Windows XP via the telnet: browser command.
This does not work anymore, it seems. I have to launch the telnet client
explicitly, and issue an open for the ip address.

I log on to my public library's catalog system via telnet. Can someone tell
me if I could put an icon on my Vista desktop to automatically feed the IP
address to the telnet program and open the address, how do I do this?

Thanks.
Walter

See HELP & SUPPORT "telnet" for install instructions.

Then create a shortcut with this syntax; give it a shortcut key if you
desire...
C:\Windows\System32\telnet.exe ISPname.com (note the spaces)

If you find that emulation is faulty, the registry allows changes.
Follow up here if that becomes a problem.
