| | DVD Burning Software Hello. I bought a new LG Double Layer DVD Burner with Lightscribe. Vista does not allow me to install the software bundle (Nero 6 and Cyberlink Power DVD) that came with the drive. (FYI: I have disabled the UAC in my Vista). I checked Nero, they don't have an update for Vista. None at Cyberlink either. I want to be able to burn DVD's and CD's with Vista. There are five Fedora 6 .ISO CD image files waiting to be burned. Does anyone know if Vista Ultimate can burn .iso image files to CD without installing any other DVD/CD burning software? |

| | Re: DVD Burning Software Hi Nero 6 will not work with Vista, you need the latest Nero 7 v7.8.0.5 available as an update from their website. Windows Vista has CD/DVD burning built in but will not burn ISO, you will either need Nero 7 or a standalone IMG Burn package of which some are free, personally we use Nero 7 so I am unable to advise on others. I hope this helps. One option would be to boot something like a knoppix Live CD with the 'toram' option - this loads the OS and utilities to ram leaving the dvd unit freed up. |

It only causes a nag screen anyway, no real harm and all due to some KB patch that fixes other software, but partially breaks Easy 9 in this minor regard. Go figure. |

| | Re: DVD Burning Software No, you can just obtain Nero 7. Note that you will need to BUY this as this is not an update, it's a whole new version. Noted your comments about ISO burning, true, although there are enough freeware alternatives to not really make it an issue (ImgBurn 2.3.0.0 at http://www.imgburn.com). At work, we are a Microsoft shop when it comes to workstations, Mail Exchange, Browsing, etc. But our business apps are running on Mid-Range systems. Lately, we migrated our database to Oracle 10-g in a RAC environment. The servers are are running on RHL Enterprise (Red Hat Linux). I home-built a new system with a Dual Core CPU, 2GB DDR2 mem for Vista Ultimate I'm trying out. New workstations and Laptops that we buy at work now come with Vista so I have to learn the new Vista OS. On the other hand, I want to learn Linux so I downloaded the ISO images from Fedora to install in another system I'm going to build - just to familiarize myself with Linux. > > Cheers. > > >> Regards >> Stuart >> >> >> "C R C" <Firefox111_2000@yahoo.com> wrote in message >> news:eJlksT7bHHA.1216@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... >>> Hello. >>> >>> I bought a new LG Double Layer DVD Burner with Lightscribe. Free ImgBurn burns IOS exceptionally well under Vista. -- Andrea|ASRock K7Upgrade880, AMD Sempron 2800@2340MHz, Pentagram QC-80Cu 1024MB DDR-400, Sapphire Radeon 9600 128MB, Samsung SyncMaster SM-960BF Seagate Barracuda ST380021A 80GB, Western Digital Caviar WD2000JS 200GB Pioneer DVR-111L, ModeCom 350GTF, Creative Audigy SE + Creative HQ-1700 |

Nero 6 does work under Vista (I use it regularly). Some of the support programs don't, e.g. Nero Express, won't work. However, Nero Burning ROM (the primary burning software) works just fine. > > Windows Vista has CD/DVD burning built in but will not burn ISO, you will > either need Nero 7 or a standalone IMG Burn package of which some are > free, personally we use Nero 7 so I am unable to advise on others. Nero Burning ROM 6 will, of course, handle ISO images and works fine under Vista. > > I hope this helps. > > Regards > Stuart > > > "C R C" <Firefox111_2000@yahoo.com> wrote in message > news:eJlksT7bHHA.1216@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... >> Hello. >> >> I bought a new LG Double Layer DVD Burner with Lightscribe.
