Re: Microsoft extends Vista bulk license discount to Europe

Buyer beware with the family discount. I bought a home premium license
through that plan for $49 and think I ended up with something in
between a retail version and an OEM version. Plus headaches.

I bought a license, installed it, no problems. Then a few weeks later
I upgrade my memory. I get into VISTA and it says my license has been
deactivate because of a hardware change.

I called MS and got shifted around to different people for 1 and 3/4
hours because no one can make heads or tails of my "family plan"
product key and how to generate a new key for me. I am so glad that
initially they routed me to the wrong dept. and the tech support
person stayed on the call throughout the whole ordeal. I could tell
he was empathizing with me after the first hour, but he could only
follow procedures and he had no ability to generate a key for me. He
also said a few times that he couldn't promise I would get a new key.

I still have a sour taste from the whole incident and now look at MS
as an evil empire. A little dramatic, but talk about feeling like you
were ripped off!

Then refuse to be a victim. Call your CC company and demand a refund. You
were ripped off. Consider the copy of Vista payment for the 1.5+ hours of
your time.

Re: Microsoft extends Vista bulk license discount to Europe

Sorry that you had such a difficult time.

You should have simply tried to activate vista again. When the activation
over the internet failed you would have been given the option to activate by
telephone and a toll free number would be displayed. This would connect you
to the activation center and it would have taken about 5 minutes to
complete.
