Vista - Start Menu

I was wondering why after a while the icons on the start menu seem to
disappear on the programs that you are using. I have to go back into the
program that I was using and reopen it.
Sometimes it will stay for a while then I will go into another program go
back to the start menu and they are gone. I just wondering if any one else
was having the same problem and if there is a fix for it

Right click on the Taskbar, Properties, Start Menu tab, Customize, Start
menu size. Increase the number of recent programs to display. I have mine
set at 16, using small icons.

Thank you for the information I have done that, they totally disappear not
that there is not enough room for the icons. What happens is they will be
there for a while then the whole icon disappears and leaves a whit space
where the icon should be. So that the only thing there is the pinned items
and nothing else
