vista temp folder error

HELLO PEOPLE...

i downloaded ACROBAT READER 8.0 from the acrobat website. After running the
executable package , i get an error message : the temp folder is on a drive
that is inaccessible.Free up space on the drive or verify that you have write
permission on the temp folder.

I have only one HDD. I am using vista in a SBS2003 domain with local
profiles at each computer. I cannot access the Application Data folder ,
although i am using an administrator account for the domain and the Vista.

What could i do??

Re: vista temp folder error

I'm going to make a wild guess that you have the UAC off ?

If you right click on the executable and choose properties and choose
compatibility and then choose XP:SP2, the install should work fine. If oyu
have the UAC off, turning it back on, would also fix the problem. If it's on
and you're having that problem, then that is weird.

Re: vista temp folder error

Issue:
When you install Adobe Reader 8 on Windows Vista you see the error message, "The Temp folder is on a drive that is full or is
inaccessible. Free up space on the drive or verify that you have write permission on the Temp folder."

Reason:
You have turned off User Account Control or you are logged in using the default administrator account.

Solution:
1. In Control Panels, choose User Accounts.
2. Click "Turn User Account Control on or off".
3. Check the box to "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer" and then click OK.
4. Restart your computer.
5. Install Adobe Reader 8.

Reference:

Error, "The Temp folder is on a drive that is full..." when installing Acrobat 8 trial or Adobe Reader 8 (Windows Vista)

Re: vista temp folder error

I have UAC turned off and have not such issue.

Maybe the answer is if you want to keep UAC turned off, Install Adobe reader
8 with it turned on. After the install is complete turn it off.

Re: vista temp folder error

Thank you for your interest people to help a STUPID user. The UAC was turned
on. It was all a matter of compatibility. I used compatibility with XPSP2 and
it worked great.
Thank you o nce more for your help.
