Vista - DreamScene - Can preview, can't set as background, goes to solid c

I've read dozens of posts and I haven't found the answer so I am posting this
question.

I have Vista Ultimate and I downloaded the DreamScenes. I can preview them
from the Control Panel -> Personalization -> Desktop Background dialog and
they play fine, but when I select one to use as the desktop background my
background changes to a solid color.

Suggestions would be most appreciated.

What is your video card? Does Aero work properly?

Yes, Aero works. My Vista rating is 4.2 - supporting Aero.

Had another problem with the video card (My primary monitor - the laptop -
went black and white while the secondary monitor was displaying color ) so I
un-installed and re-installed the video card. Now the video background works.
