.exe file slow to start

I get this problem after upgraded my OS from Windows XP SP2 to Windows Vista
Home Premiun
I have an .exe file in the in startup (msconfig) to start inmediately
windows vista started, but for some reason, I have to wait about 4 minutes to
use it. There is something I can do to get this file works faster. Any help
will be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: .exe file slow to start

What program are you trying to launch? Some programs take longer to
initialize than others. A good example would be Zone Alarm. If it is Zone
Alarm, you'll just have to wait.

Another possible problem would be if you do not have enough memory. With
Vista, 1 GB may not be enough. And if you share your memory with your Video
Card, it definitely is not enough. Increase your memory to 1.5GB or 2 GB. It
won't hurt and it might even solve your problem.

Re: .exe file slow to start

What happens if you remove it from start up and just start the program
manually after the system boots?

Re: .exe file slow to start

Ronnie, Thanks. I did remove it from start up and just started the program
manually after system boot, and it work inmediatelly. The file is KBD.EXE
for my Multimedia Keyboard. When it starts from start up, it take about 4
minutes. I have 1GB Memory, do I need to increase it? or is there something
I can do to fix the problem?.
One more time thanks for your help...

Re: .exe file slow to start

Revooc, Thanks.
The file is KBD.EXE for my Multimedia Keyboard, when I removed it from start
up, and started the program manually after the system boots, it work
inmediatelly. Do you think that the problem is becasue I have 1GB memory? Do
I need to increase it?

Thanks for you response.

Re: .exe file slow to start

Yes, that is the Keyboard program from Logitech so that your HP Keyboard
will be able to control certain features. The program, itself, is
unnecessary, but it does give you some options with the keyboard you
wouldn't have if you were not running it. And yes, I suspect that you need
more RAM. With the HP Pavillion, you probably share the 1 GB RAM you have
with your video card, giving you a smaller amount of memory than you
actually need with Vista. Get the RAM. You'll be much happier with your new
system.
