| | disk read error i successfully installed Vista on my second HD, i think by overwriting a clean install of XP2 - i then attempted to use this as my Master, unsuccessfully. so i attempted a clean install of Vista and i get "disk read error" on the first boot during install. so i attempted an upgrade of a clean XP2 SUCCESSFUL INSTALL on my master, and i get "disk read error" on the first boot during install (this happens after all the "Expanding Files" and "Installing Features")... what is Vista doing to corrupt my boot process? anyone? |

| | RE: disk read error Hello, I get this same error on my Vista install attempts using many different scenarios with XP pro Sp2. Did you ever get Vista to install? I'm seeing other people with this error but no real solution? Thanks "glenn.php" wrote: > i successfully installed Vista on my second HD, i think by overwriting a > clean install of XP2 - i then attempted to use this as my Master, > unsuccessfully. so i attempted a clean install of Vista and i get "disk read > error" on the first boot during install. so i attempted an upgrade of a clean > XP2 SUCCESSFUL INSTALL on my master, and i get "disk read error" on the first > boot during install (this happens after all the "Expanding Files" and > "Installing Features")... > > what is Vista doing to corrupt my boot process? anyone? |

| | Re: disk read error On the first Vista boot, if your system partition is formatted with a cluster size that is not 4-K you will receive a "Disk Read I/O Error". You must resize the clusters to 4Kbyte or the OS will not boot.
