Vista - HP LaserJet 1020 printer

I'm using Vista 32-bit and HP LaserJet 1020 printer.

I cannot understand how such a big company like HP does not still
publish its Vista-compatible driver yet! Actually, with XP driver of
HP 1020, it works technically.

However, after turning on the power, the first printing is ignored.
So, I have to send print command twice at the very first. Moreover,
when printer needs to pop up 'both side printing' confirm dialog, a
weird full screen is shown. Finally, after printing bunch of jobs,
there are numerous ZSHP 1020.EXE processes (now I have 7 processes!).
Even worse, these processes can't be terminated by Task Manager. You
have to reboot to kill them.

Do you have any problems with using HP 1020 printer?

Yes, I have exactly the same problem and it is a ...... shame that HP
completely ignores my repeated requests for a Vista driver. They have now
mailed me a list of Vista compatible printers, probably with the idea that
the customer will be stupid enough to replace a 6 months printer with a new
one.
This is definitely the last time that I will buy another HP product. I am
also stuck with a HP 7620 scanner, for which there is no Vista compatible
scanner software and not even an indication that this will ever be made
available. For this reason I was forced to abandon Vista and switch back to
XP prof. The Vista upgrade advisor indicated that there might be a "minor"
problem, but the sad thruth is that I cannot even install it.

FWIW - I've seen some postings about 3rd party software that will enable
"unsupported" scanners in Vista. Sorry I don't remember the name of it but
search the archives and you may be able to find it.
