| | Blue screen error Hi, I just got 2 PCs with Windows Vista Business (same setup). PC A is working fine with no error. PC B is the one with problem. PC B has these additional hardware (which A doesnt have): - D-Link AirPlus G+ DWL-G520+ Wireless PCI Adapter - Brother HL 2040 Laser Printer and these additional software (which A doesnt have): - Netbeans IDE 5.5 + Mobility Pack add-on - Sony Ericsson J2ME SDK B keeps getting the blue screen error and auto-restarting. Its a dell E20 and I just got it this month. I've ran through an entire CD of hardware test from Dell and all seems ok. (e.g RAM, processor, fan, keyboard, monitor etc) It gave me some unable to read or media is write protected error. So I assumed it was a harddisk error. But, after they changed the harddisk, I am still having the same problem! I am trying to code a mobile application using Sony Ericsson J2ME JDK. Hence, most of the time I am using the netbeans IDE. I am not sure if it is a software conflict cos it happens randomly. Most of the time, it crashes when I am testing the application in the sony ericsson phone emulator environment. After the crash and restarting windows, I will get a "windows has recovered from a serious error" popup. If I choose the check online for a solution button, the popup will just disappear after a while with no message. And when I shutdown the computer after doing this step above, the computer will hang and display a message: NMI: Parity check | Memory Parity Error ![]() |

| | Re: Blue screen error This is a pretty good indication that there is some sort of error with your RAM or possibly a problem with your motherboard. Try running the Memory Diagnostics Tool and selecting to "Check for problems the next time I start my computer" and see if that comes back with anything. | | Re: Blue screen error Hmm... Is the memory diagnostics tool the one where you download from microsoft and burned onto a CD? I did that, and there was no error reported. There is a similar test on the Dell diagnostics CD. No error as well.... I think I might try to install the same programs on my other computer to see if the same thing happens.... | | Re: Blue screen error I guess I could have provided more details. The Memory Diagnostics Tool is a program that comes with Vista. Click the start orb and type mem in the search and it should be right there. Click on it and it brings up a dialog where the choices are "Restart Now and check for problems" and "Check the next time I start my computer". Choose one and then when you restart, it will run through the diagnostics. That said, it is probably very similar (or exactly) to what you said you downloaded from MS and burned to CD. If that didn't get any errors, the next thing I would try would be to reseat all of your RAM DIMMS and expansion cards, just to make sure everything is getting a good connection and doesn't have a dust bunny clogging up a connection somewhere. I am also currently installing everything and shifting my work to the other computer to see if it is a software issue. | | Re: Blue screen error OK, Apparently the crash is caused by playing Midi files??!? When I turn off everything and just play midi music with windows media player, the computer also crashed! But if I run my netbeans application without the midi music, it doesnt crash! -.- I run the same application with Midi turned on on another computer overnight and it didnt crash. | | Re: Blue screen error Greetings: Concerning the memory parity error, I suggest you disconnect everything from motherbaord except the video card and RAM. Boot up computer, listen for any beeps. If you here one long and two short, these are usually an indiction of bad memory. You can then remove then memory sticks one at atime and repeat the boot process. If one of them is bad, you should only hear a single short beep indicating all is well. Had a problem just like it with brand new memory DDR2. |

| | Re: Blue screen error Hi, No probl. I've figured out what was wrong. There was actually 2 error at the same time. 1. Random blue screen while playing media: - Cause: Faulty sound card. 2. Blue screen upon shutdown: - Cause: D-Link wireless G520+ card driver does not support Vista.
