I just went back to the site, to download a newer Ubunu - and what I
stated is true. Even the "extended support" back-version of Ubuntu
desktop is supported only as far as 2009, i.e. 3 years.

So I guess I can carry on "yacking", right?

No, "at best" is until 2011 for the server release of Dapper.
