Adobe Reader Install error 1935

I tried to install Adobe Reader 8.0 and got this message
Error 1935 An error occured during the installation of assembly
'Microsoft VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.163",type="
win32",publicKeyToken="ifc8b3b9a1e.3b",
processorArcitecture="X86"

Re: Adobe Reader Install error 1935

Did you try the obvious of right clicking on the icon and choosing Run As
administrator ?

Also, though it shouldn't be needed, you can right click on the installer
and choose Properties and choose compatibility and choose XP:SP2 mode

I've not seen that error before, so you might try re-downloading that file,
they technically have a Vista ready version.

Same problem with this and similar problems with a few other files. I
have tried all the approaches you reference (and then some), without
success. Any other thoughts. Googling around suggests that this is a
rare problem but that the OP and I are not the only sufferers.

As noted elsewhere in this thread, I had almost identical problems
with this and a number of other installs under Vista. With the help of
a Microsoft Tech I established that the XML system of the
Administrator persona I was installing from had become corrupted.
Neither of us could work out how this might have happened without any
other apparent damage to or effects on the installation, and the
corruption survived a complete "Upgrade" reinstall of Vista. In any
event, creating a new Administrator login persona and using that for
the installs solved the problems.

Please respond to the Newsgroup, so that others may benefit from the exchange.
