Run Windows Calendar in System Tray

Hi,

Is there a way to run an application in the System Tray if it is not
designed for that initially?

I want the Windows Calendar to be running in the system tray.

I have Vista on my laptop and I put it to sleep rather than shut down or
logoff. I have stuff in my Windows Calendar as reminders. I have set the
scheduled task options to wake up the computer at such an event but that
doesn't work. If Calendar is open or running it will popup a message. I want
to use my Calendar a lot more but don't want it running in the regular tray
all the time.

I added a reg key to auto start calendar at logon but it is just running it
regularly.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Thanks
Lara

Re: Run Windows Calendar in System Tray

Hi Lara,

No, the application would need to be designed to run from the system tray.
For reminders, it would need to continually run a small background process
that checks for the reminders if the full application is not running. Again,
the program would need to be written with that in mind.

Re: Run Windows Calendar in System Tray

I run a "Virtual Desktop" program on my system:
http://www.dexpot.de/index.php?lang=en'

It has options for minimizing to the tray, and works fine here with WinCal,
WinMail & any other program I've tried.

Re: Run Windows Calendar in System Tray

Windows Live Mail Desktop has a Calendar function and minimizes to the Notification Area
of the Taskbar.

Re: Run Windows Calendar in System Tray

Hi,

I am new to Vista. What is Windows Live Mail Desktop? Is it a 3rd party or
online software, part of Vista or a paid/free add-on?

Thanks
Lara
