Sharing a printer with Vista (client) and XP (host)

I have tried everything, double-checked everything, but it just won't work.
Folders are shared properly, drivers are installed, settings are correct,
even in the Vista network checklist page...

Does anyone know of a resource that deals with Peer-to-Peer printer sharing
with Vista and XP?

Thanks!

Make sure that File and Printer Sharing is checked as an Exception under the
Windows Firewall Settings > Exceptions tab.

XP Home or XP Pro? I've got a printer hanging off an XP Home box that Vista
will absolutely not print to... hang the same printer off a XP Pro box
and... no problem.

Re: Sharing a printer with Vista (client) and XP (host)

Brilliant - That workaround worked for me. I still get a bizarre error
message telling me to use the shared printer I need to install the printer
driver on the computer (they are installed on both Vista laptop and XP Pro
desktop), and they wonbt install if i click on install drivers, but it prints
anyway.

heyho

yet another bit of flakey microsoft software.
