Vista and Internet Explorer

Last week I acquired two new computers with OEM Vista Home Premium.
Yesterday I installed on both computers Canon Printer MP600, using the
downloaded Vista driver for it.
Printer worked OK from both computers. When afterwards I tried to go on
line, Vista gave me the message "Internet Explorer has stopped working -
Check online for a solution" which did nothing but give a list of problem
details. Same on the second computer.
Among the details listed were:
Application version 7.0.6000.16386
Faulty module version 6.0.6000.16386
Faulty module timestamp 4549bdc9
Exception code c0000005
Trying to install IE7 from the latest PC World DVD disk produces the message
that the operating system won't accept it. I then tried FireFox but with the
same result.
On one computer I made a system restore with the result that the Printer has
"disappeared" but I still get the same result trying to go online.
I am at my wit's end. Is there anyone that has a solution?

Gus

RE: Vista and Internet Explorer

Try running "Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)" from the start menu. It will, as
it says, start IE without any add-ons loaded. If that works, open up Internet
Options, go to the Programs tab and select Manage Add-ons. See if you can
find anything in there related to Canon or your printer and disable them,
then try running IE normally.
