Do you mean the tabs?
If so, just click on the tab and you'll see a little X to the right of the
title of the tab. That will close it.

Another option is to right click on the tab you DON'T want to close and
you'll see an option to close other tabs. That closes everything except for
the one you're viewing.

Re: closing open windows

Since the OP said IE7, I assumed he was talking about closing unwanted tabs
and gave him advice accordingly.
I guess we'll have to wait for OP to respond to let us know for sure.

Doesn't matter. Ctrl W works for tabs and for additional IE 7s that are
opened and it works with IE7. Try it and you'll see. Your method also
works but I just like the keyboard way better :-)

Aha! Thanks. I assumed ctrl W would close the entire IE7 window (in other
words, ALL tabs).
Yes, very nice.
I also noticed you can use Ctrl-TAB to get to the tab you want, because you
might not want to Ctrl-W the tab you've got open at the moment.

You're not trying to tell us that my beloved Microsoft has copied Firefox's
behavior, are you? I can't believe Microsoft would stoop that low and
actually copy innovation that comes from the open source community!

Love and Kisses,
Doris

This has been a feature of Mozilla for a long time now, nothing new.
