accessing files from 2nd hard drive

i installed my old hard drive (which had xp) as a 2nd hard drive on a machine
running vista. when i try to access my documents, (my pictures, my music,
etc.) from the 2nd 'xp' drive, i am denied permission. how do i change the
security setting on these folders so that i can access my collection of
pictures and music?

Hi Lenny

Right click the drive choose properties.
Select the Security Tab and click Advanced.
Click the Owner Tab.
Click Edit and select tyhe new Owner.
Click OK
This should make you the owner of the Drive

Hope that helps.

Re: accessing files from 2nd hard drive

Hi,

Right click the folders and select properties. Go to the security tab and
click advanced. On the owner tab, click edit and change it over to your
account. Make sure to tick the box for this to propagate to all
subcontainers, or you will have to repeat this operation for every folder
that exists within it. The change in permissions usually takes a few minutes
as you apply/ok your way back out. You won't actually see the change until
you close and reopen system properties, but it will have already taken
effect at that point.
