| | Search is pure crap I create files, and hours later this sorry excuse for a search STILL doesn't find 'em. IF it ever does, it's just because I've gone to the folder I saved 'em in and saw them sitting there. And if I name two files with about the same name, like Picture 1.png and Picture 1.jpg, it'll only find one of those. To put it mildly, Search isn't worth a bucket of warm spit. Useless. -- Thanks, John |

| | Re: Search is pure crap Sorry bud, but you are having a problem and that is not normal. Even if your system is not finished indexing for the first time, any new files you create are instantly added. So, you can create a new file and 1 second later, have it found in a search result. Unless: 1. You created the file in a folder that is not included in the search parameters. For example a system folder. 2. Your search index service is off or not functioning. There are plenty of "broken search index" threads here. | | Re: Search is pure crap You are right Start>Search could not find Windows Photo Gallery and still cannot. I have it now pinned to the start menu and it still cannot find it I have run it a few times and never gets onto the list. I have tried all permutation of the title. At least one could do a search with XP, Vista misses out hence I could not find the program iinitially. When are we going to see an upgrade as I see this as a serious issue if it cannot find one of its own programs what are Microsoft doing. |
