Can't burn to DVD or CD in Vista

I'm trying to burn some files to CD or DVD but when I place a blank CD or
DVD in my Samsung DVD-RW SH-S182D burner there is no dialogue box to ask me
what I want to do. I am following the basic guide here to burn a disc using
    the Live File System Format:-

    http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...81033.mspx#EHB

I thought at first there must be a problem with the Samsung drive so I
installed the latest firmware (but could find no driver) but it was still
the same. I went to Control Panel / Auto Play and made sure Blank CD and
Blank DVD said to ask every time but there was still no dialogue box.

I then tried an external LG USB DVD/CD burner and it's the same with that as
    well.

Why am I unable to burn files to CD or DVD as in the guide above?

If its in a dell computer go to the Dell site and see if they have a driver.

Re: Can't burn to DVD or CD in Vista

I found a solution to my problem at the link below, it was caused by JMicron
JMB36x controller installing my DVD/CD drives as SCSI drives. I had to
uninstall JMicron AND its driver from Device Manager / Storage Controllers
then restart the PC and let Windows Vista install a driver. The DVD/CD
drives then appeared under IDE ATA ATAPI controllers in Device Manager as
Serial ATA Storage Controller and worked!
