Vista - microphone problem

hey what sup i'm sorry if this has already been answerd, i just bought a
logitech fusion webcam, I just replaced my Logitec Quickcam zoom (silver).
I had thought my "ZOOM" had broke cause the mic wasn't working.
When i got the new cam the mic wasn't working either, YES i set it all up, I
could record my voice and whatnot but the mic still woulnt work with
messenger.
does anyone know what maybe wrong?
I have windows Vista and i have all the updates so farand the latest msn
messenger. i just installed
norton internet security about 2 weeks ago and that was about the time this
mess started.

Erin, when you go through the messenger audio and video setup (tools>audio
video setup) in the Microphone setup window make sure that the correct
microphone is selected in the 'select the microphone you would like to use:'
box. It should be set to Microphone (USB audio device) In some cases it is
automatically set to Microphone (intel(r) 82801DB/DBM AC 97 Audio) or
something similar.
