| | Search files containing text in Vista Hi was working with 2000 untill last year where My company finaly upgraded to XP. First problem, could not search for files containing a certain text (wich I use all the time). But that's ok, because this "bug" was well known and a little registery modification fixed my problem. This time, I decided to be one of the first to move to vista, mostly because I'm curious and that I'm not likely to have it at home any time soon. But I've got the Same search problem!!! Can someone explain to me how to find some files containing a certain string of text? eg: search all ASP files containing "CityName=" |

| | Re: Search files containing text in Vista Start Menu/Search. In the search box enter Cityname= name:*.asp See if that works for you (works for me). | | Re: Search files containing text in Vista Hi Joe, thanks for your answer, this does work but only on my files, I want to search for files that are on a network location. It doesn't seem to want to do that. Furthermore, in order to do a test, I copied our website over into a test folder in my documents and waited for the indexing to be finished, but I'm still unable to find anything in those files, I think it's because I'm not the owner or something. I've already wasted a day at this, It's getting really annoying (in case people care.) Thanks again for your reply Joe. "Joe Guidera" wrote: > Start Menu/Search. | | Search in Vista Hi, I had a little win, doing the same thing we do in XP, changing the persistant handler for .asp in the registry. That gave me more files but still not all the files. It would work if the files were mine and on my computer but it doesnt if they are on a network drive. Vista searh is great for Mr everyone maybe but it doen't do it for me.
