| | Bug: Click on Explorer's Detail pane sometimes doesn't activate wi Crosspost from shell: revealed, http://shellrevealed.com/forums/thread/6856.aspx Clicking in the details pane of an Explorer window sometimes does not activate the window. If the window that is clicked on is beneath another, it will not receive focus and it will not be brought to the top. This a bug is because it is inconsistent: sometimes clicks will activate the window, oftentimes not. (Although I think any click within a windows' borders should *always* activate the window) Reproduce as follows: - Close all other windows (optional) - Open two Explorer windows, e.g., hit Wnd-E twice. Explorer will open up Computer, so the Details Pane will summarize your computer stats. - Cover one Explorer with the other but leave the details pane of the bottom Explorer exposed (so you can click on it!) After moving the Explorer window, the top-most Explorer will have focus (obviously) - Click on a blank spot in the detail pane of the bottom Explorer window. The click should activate that window and bring it to the top; most of the time it does not. Keep trying. :=) - Clicking on any other part of the bottom Explorer window will always bring it to the top, as expected. Tested on: - Windows Vista Ultimate, running on Dell system with Intel Core 2, 2GB RAM, Nvidia Quadro graphics (with Aero) - Windows Vista Ultimate, Intel P4, 865G chipset, 1GB RAM, built-in graphics (no Aero) ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes.
