| | Vista Disk Space Apparently the disk space problem I encountered is well known. There is a nice fix for it however - an undocumented (naturally) command that lets you set the max diskspace used for the restore points (called shadow copies.) Here's the reference in case your computer guy wants to see it: http://www.watchingthenet.com/how-to...m-restore.html -- Birk Binnard http://www.birkbinnard.com |

That settings changes how much HDD space is available to the Shadow Copy environment which is also used for Restore Points. It doesn't JUST affect Restore Points. Shadow Copy will allow you to right click any file and restore that file to a previous version. As well as folders as well as restoring deleted files. If you alter this setting then understand that it affects both Restore Points as well as Shadow Copy. From MS: Shadow Copy Have you ever accidentally saved over a file you were working on? Accidental file deletion or modification is a common cause of data loss. The Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise editions of Windows Vista include a useful innovation to help you protect your data: Shadow Copy. This feature automatically creates point-in-time copies of files as you work, so you can quickly and easily retrieve versions of a document you may have accidentally deleted. |
