Vista - Can you tell Vista to permanently disallow a specific update?

Upgraded to Vista in February from XP. This machine is connected to a
Linksys 802.11g network adapter. When I upgraded in February, I downloaded
the most recent Vista drivers for the adapter directly from Linksys website.

About a week ago, Vista's automatic update found a version of the driver
dated December 2006. When it attempts to install this driver update, it
fails (I can't remember the error number, but when I was able to look it up,
it was the one that said the most recent version was already installed) and
as a result, the adapter fails completely and I lose connectivity. Rebooted
with no success. I had to go back and completely uninstall the device, and
then reinstall the original drivers from CD. Tried to install the December
06 drivers immediately after doing that and got the same error message as
before, and had to uninstall and reinstall the device again.

As long as I don't install that particular update, the device will work
fine. I was able to change settings on Vista updates so that it won't
automatically install, but this results in other error messages showing up
(on my antivirus for exampe).

SO - is there a way to tell Vista to permanently disallow a specific update,
or will this update show up in the update box forever?

Right click on the update and hide it. You won't see it again.

Many thanks, Richard - worked like a charm. Hopefully, Vista won't try to
install any other such "updates" in the future, but at least I now know how
to make it stop!
