| | Re: help! No version of Windows has ever (or is ever likely to) "come with" Microsoft Word or Office. None. Ever. If you bought a computer with Windows pre-installed and Word or Office was on it, someone either installed it separately or it came with whatever package deal/bundle you chose from the computer manufacturer. -- Maxwell Bluemeanie ---- "Debra Lichtenwalner" <debra@allegra-bethlehem.com> wrote in message news:C24913AD.23630%debra@allegra-bethlehem.com... > Unfortunately VISTA does not come with Microsoft Word, it comes with the > notepad. If you don't have an installation disk for Word, you'll have to go and purchase one. A cheaper alternative is to use Open Office, which is a free open source replacement for Microsoft Office. | | Re: help! However you wish to phrase it, my old Gateway computer had XP with Word on it, I did not install it. Therefore, my XP came with Word. Simple as that. in article O4lQ3WEgHHA.1552@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl, Max at max@home.com wrote on 4/16/07 12:39 PM: > No version of Windows has ever (or is ever likely to) "come with" Microsoft > Word or Office. > None. | | Re: help! Or alternatively, you have had office installed at some point on a previous computer, you could always check that computer for software. if you have the CD's check the version of office isn't OEM (although not likely) then you should be able to move it from one machine to another (i.e. from previous XP computer to spanking new Vista machine). That would be just as inexpensive you will need to remove it from the other machine. Check in with yourlocal Microsoft contact centre if you have any questions. If not then Doris's suggestion would work. Or another option would be to get Microsoft Works Suite, which comes with Microsoft Word. However, if you use Excel or any other Office product then you might want to get a full "Office Suite".
