What has happened to my start menu?

    Hello.

Sorry for posting a picture but I'm not shure how to explain my problem.
Where has all programs gone on my start-menu? Any help appreciated. If I
create new shortcuts the disappear after a restart. Happened a few days ago
but I havn't done anything special

The picture looks like the typical Classic Start menu? Are you looking for
    the Vista Start Menu or....?

How are you creating and placing the shortcuts on the start menu?

Sorry if I was a little unclear. At the bottom of the start menu below
winzip there is supposed to be a bunch of shortcuts.

    Tanks for your reply.

No shortcuts there. They're just gone. If I recreate them they show up. But
after I log out they are gone when I log in again. Very strange behavior.

Make sure that you are creating the shortcuts in the All Users\Programs
folder. Click the Start button, Right click All Programs and select Explore
All Users. Click the Programs folder and create the folders/shortcuts there.

Re: What has happened to my start menu?

Thanks again but I'm sorry that I have to say that it doesn't work. I create
them and after a log out they disappear.
Maybe they come back when Microsoft releases service pack 1 for Vista.
Thanks for trying to help me.

Forgot to mention. The one shortcut there is below Winzip is a shortcut to
computer on the desktop. If I delete it it gets recreated after a logout.
    Bug?

This has happened to me also!

There's a typical set of shortcuts that normally are in "All Programs" by
default, such as Media Center, Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer,
Outlook, etc... one day, they just simply vanished. They are not found when I
"Explore All Users" either. They have simply vanished from my machine
    entirely!

Is there any way to retrieve them? Perhaps a restore point?... this is
pretty distressing, since I'm not even sure what I've lost...

I can luckily still get to some of the programs via shortcuts I put on my
desktop, but it would be nice to have these back...........
