    random minimizing

My windows seem to randomly minimize when I try to click on links. This
seems to happen when I touch the 'touchpad' of my laptop rather than using
the buttons... not a major problem, but certainly a pain.

    Any solutions out there?

I've got essentially the same problem, only worse, because it drives my
husband crazy that using the touchpad to scroll makes the window shrink or
disappear. He wants me to return the Toshiba laptop. I'd prefer a practical
    solution.

Well, that makes 3 of us! And I too have a new Toshiba laptop. I hope someone
comes up with an answer. Besides being terribly heavy, I love my laptop.

There is a Icon in the lower right that is for the touch pad. Go thru the
    options and turn off "Tapping".

I hate to appear stupid, but I cannot find any icon that refers to the touch
pad. Can you tell me what it looks like? I surely do appreciate your help on
    this!

Check the User's Guide (and also update your drivers
and other utilities) from Toshiba's Website.

The icon is called "Synaptic Pointing Device." Click on it and "uncheck" the
option that turns off the tapping or whatever. I did it and it works. Thank
    you everyone for your help.

    RE: random minimizing

Someone suggested un-checking the tapping, but that's NOT the solution. I
like to be able to tap with my mouse pad-- I just don't want it to be so
sensitive. SO, you have to go into settings (which is under the Device
Settings tab) and double-click on Sensitivity (make sure you double-click,
otherwise it won't show up) and change how sensitive the touch pad is.

So far this seems to work like a charm.

    RE: random minimizing

Thanks to all of the responses I was able to figure this out! I went to the
"mouse" controls where I was able to determine what a tap in the touchpad
would do (i.e. go the start menu, minimize, maximize, etc.) One of the
presets is to minimize, another is to maximize. I reset those to do nothing.
    Hopefully it's fixed for good!
