Windows XP will be around a lot longer than you think!!

Dedicated to Justin!

Over at CNET News, the bold headline reads: No more Windows XP as of 2008.
And the opening line continues the theme: "Starting next year you won't be
able to buy a new PC loaded with Windows XP." A PC World story echoed that
report, noting Microsoft's plans to "discontinue shipments of Windows XP to
OEMs on January 31, 2008." The PC World reporter went out to the web to find
anonymous comments on message boards (apparently this is now a staple of
online journalism) and found this doozy: "[T]ime for enterprises to stock up
on shrink-wrapped copies of XP Pro."

Re: Windows XP will be around a lot longer than you think!!

Along with my XP I still use an old computer running Windows ME. In some
ways it's better than the XP, except for the blue screen that popups everynow
and then after forcing the machine beyond its capabilities. In fact it's
a hardware problem, a Pentium II @400MHz, 256 MB RAM, compared against my
Pentium IV @3GHz XP. So, for the same reason, most people will use the XP
for quite a long time, even if M$ support ends on 2008. As far as I'm concerned
I will continue using my ME until the motherboard dies.

That would run stable as a rock if you installed Windows 2000

and fast too (comparably)

XP support is going to carry on for 5-6 years

Re: Windows XP will be around a lot longer than you think!!

We have seen post like this before when new windows versions were
released. And in no time everyone was using the new system.
So, end 2008 almost everyone will use vista.
