Dell is bringing XP back. Amid significant customer demand

LOL nobody wants vista.. lol

As I predicted.. yes I did... :-) People just want the best OS ever
designed! >>XP

again dedicated to all ya nice cool vista fans.....

Dell is bringing XP back.

Amid significant customer demand, the computer maker said on Thursday that
it has returned to offering the older Windows version as an option on some
of its consumer PCs.

Like most computer makers, Dell switched nearly entirely to Vista-based
systems following Microsoft's mainstream launch of the operating system in
January. However, the company said its customers have been asking for XP as
part of its IdeaStorm project, which asks customers to help the company come
up with product ideas.

"We heard you loud and clear on bringing the Windows XP option back to our
Dell consumer PC offerings," Dell said on its Ideas in Action page. Users
get to vote on various suggestions, and the notion of bringing back XP got
10,000 "points," making it among the most popular requests but well below
top picks such as adding Linux or OpenOffice.org to its PCs.

Windows XP systems became scarce, but not impossible to find, after Vista
arrived. For example, Hewlett-Packard said it would continue selling XP on
some machines aimed at small and midsize businesses, while CompUSA still
stocks a couple of business-oriented XP systems in its retail stores. Lenovo
has also continued shipping XP on many of its business systems.

Starting immediately, Dell said, it is adding XP Home

I wonder how that swell of consumer demand might compare with the one for
Linux and other OSS solutions?

Hey capin' crunch if you actually read the article all he is doing is to
continue to offer XP Home on a limited basis.
Vista is the future even if you refuse to be beamed up!

Too bad I didn't take my own advice. I could have retired -- if I already
wasn't retired. :>

I love it when people who are not competent to run something, blame the
product rather than their own inadequacies..

You are welcome to your gleefulness and, of course, your opinion. You'll get
no trouble from me on those counts. However, if you truly believe that Vista
will not become main stream, you're kidding yourself.

Tooting one's own horn is almost always rooted in self esteem issues. Just
thought you should know that...

You must be doing something wrong. Vista Ultimate runs great here...4600 x2,
2 GB RAM.

Re: Dell is bringing XP back. Amid significant customer demand

Vista must be really sinking sales. The only people that have told me
that they liked Vista were the ones on this newsgroup. Everyone else
that I speak with wants to dump Vista and put XP or Linux on their
computers.

I love it when an operating system maker cannot hire people to write
software and translate that to machine language.

And I love it when people blame their own incompetence on others. I run
Vista Ultimate x64 with an AMD Athlon x2 4600+. It runs just fine. If you
can't duplicate that, then the problem is with you, and not Vista. Spread
your FUD somewhere else, please.
