| | Service not found? After I log in (following any reboot) I get the message "service not found". There is no other infomation. I went to the event viewer and I see no error messsage for windows logs: application, system, security, etc. Just a bunch of "info" message. So how can I determine what the service is that it is attempting to run? I uninstalled McAfee as 1gb of memory was not sufficient. I uninstalled VNCserver as it can only run in user mode. I recently installed VPN (centerpoint vista release) and also DLink vista driver for pcmcia card (i have pcmcia desktop adapter). It is probably one of those two I uninstalled I would guess. Normally (XP Pro) the event log will have a message corresponding to the popup error message. If so, it is buried in the "info" messages and there are too many to look thru. ...thanks in advance.. BTW the system works fine, I just have no idea what the service is that cant be found. -- ====================================================================== Joseph "Beemer Biker" Stateson http://TipsForTheComputingImpaired.com http://ResearchRiders.org Ask about my 99'R1100RT ====================================================================== |

You can also check services.msc for a service set to auto start for a program that no longer exists. Another option might be to use the McAfee uninstaller available on their website to remove any possible program leftovers. -- Jim |
