| Guest | Administrator Permissions At this time I'm still running XP Pro. I do not use any passwords to run XP. When I boot up it opens XP. Can this also be done with Vista? or do you have to have a password to get in? |

| Guest | Re: Administrator Permissions You do not HAVE to have a password, but some things will not work if you don't. You can assign a password and still have it boot automatically, so although you have a password you do not need it on startup. Same as in XP, certain functions require that there be one. > You can assign a password and still have it boot automatically, so > although you have a password you do not need it on startup. Correct, you can disable the requirement through the use of 'control userpasswords2', same as in XP. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "Michael" <mexxwalraven@verson.net> wrote in message news:uwendj6gHHA.4916@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > You do not HAVE to have a password, but some things will not work if you > don't. Same kinds of things that don't work if you do not have a password for XP. Remote Desktop, for example, requires that users who log in remotely have a password set. Alun Harford |
