Vista - Windows Media Centre Question

I have Vista Home Premium and have just started using Windows Media Centre.

If I set it to record programs via my TV tuner card does the Windows Media
Centre interface have to be running for these recording to happen or will it
work in the background?

It works in the background.
WMC doesn't have to be open, but your computer has to be on.

It will, however, wake your computer up from sleep/suspend to do the
recording
