| | Import events into an app's event log? This sounds like an odd request, but here's why I want to do this. Media Center uses events in the Windows Event Log to store the shows recorded. If, for instance, you tell MC to record every single Simpson's episode, but it knows which ones you have already recorded, then it will not re-record those it already recorded for you. And here's the problem. There seems to be no upgrade route from MCE2005 record history to MCE Vista record history. This means that if I have watched all but 1 episode of the Simpson's on MCE2005, MCE Vista thinks I've watched *none*. I can see all my recordings in the Event log in MCE 2005. I can see my new recordings in the Event log in MCE Vista. I can export the events from 2005 to a file. But I cannot figure out how to import those into MCE Vista. And before anyone asks the obvious - I am aware that if the event log data format for these recording events has changed, then I could be corrupting my MCE VIsta install. I'm willing to take that risk. I did it with "recordings.xml" and it turned out to work fine. Ted Howard |
