| | Downloading software vanishes after the using Save Yes, it's sadly true. You can't Save a file after a download. It vanishes. Here is the scenario, try it (I'm interested in your feedback): Go to ATI's site and download the Vista Catalyst beta drivers. Do a search for Vista under ATI's knowledge base. Select "Catalyst Beta Driver..., then select the driver download link. In my case it was: https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206..._LH_RC0_32.exe Select the Save button from the dialogue popup. Select Save again. Now here's the fun part. Make sure the folder C:\Users\"your username"\Desktop is open. That way you can watch after the download has finished as the above file ati_LH_RC0_32.exe is written to that folder (whish has read/write privileges BTW), then watch as your file suddenly disappears into the Twilight Zone. The file cannot be searched. It's hocus pocus. Isn't Vista beta 2 wonderful? I wish someone from Microsoft could tell us how we can solve this rather thorny issue. ![]() Xavier (IT Professional) |

| | RE: Downloading software vanishes after the using Save I found out a little more. Apparently after it's downloaded, Vista loads the file to be installed. If you open Task Manager, you'll see: 0% of ati_LH_RC0_32.exe from a248.e.akamai.net Completed. It's getting loaded into volatile memory and there fails. So, where do we go in IE 7+ to configure the download process?? "Xavier" wrote: > Yes, it's sadly true. You can't Save a file after a download. | | Re: Downloading software vanishes after the using Save I didn't try that particular file, but I can download files to my Desktop with IE7, and they do not vanish. Do you have this vanishing problem with all files or just that one? On Thu, 15 Jun 2006 22:06:01 -0700, Xavier <Xavier@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: >I found out a little more.
