Re: Simple Question?

You wouldn't! Stick with XP, more stable, programs work better, printer
drivers, video drivers, etc... work better with XP. Maybe in 6 months or
when MicroSquish releases the service pack, that might be the time to
switch.

Read the forum and look at all the problems people are having with Vista
right now.

Re: Simple Question?

That is a dangerous question to ask on this newsgroup...unless you just want
to start a war. There are some in here that delight in causing more
confusion rather than actually helping.

Go here and read the reviews. There are also comparisons of Vista and XP.
Windows Vista Review
Part 1: Introduction
http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/winvista.asp

There are about 8 sections there that will tell you the good, bad, and ugly
about Vista in a non-biased manner. I don't know who to listen to on this
site. I haven't decided for myself, but I do know I have it on my new
computer and have had nothing but problems and cannot get anyone on this
site to tell me why I should keep it.

Also, this is a comparison guide from MS you can look at and decide for
yourself.

Good luck.

would like to help, but, why would I or anyone else, know what you want?

want another opinion?

Vista is far superior to XP

If you are unsure of yourself, keep XP

Re: Simple Question?

Vista is far superior to XP - NOT !

Give it the service patch and maybe it will just be brain damaged!

I would recommend that you NOT get vista until, at least, SP1 is out.
There seem to be a lot of issues.

Well for one thing, if you want to run DX10 games you'll need Vista and
a DX10 capable video card. Also make sure you have the correct hardware,
i.e., enough System RAM (1-2gigs) and that the hardware/software that
you intend to run has Vista drivers available.
These drivers must come from their respective manufacturers, not from MS.
So if you have the correct hardware requirements and drivers, you'll
really enjoy the Vista experience.
As for waiting for SP1 before using Vista, forget it. SP1 will not
upgrade your hardware nor will it provide the correct Vista compatible
drivers for your hardware/software. And there is nothing majorly wrong
with Vista as it is that requires SP1 to fix.

For sure, but they are easy to discard.

I know there are differences. Today, I would have to go out of my way to
get Xp
