WMP11 Error 80040154 on Burn Only

Maybe zachd or some other WMP11 guru can help!

WMP11 burned audio cds fine until this week. Now, this happens:

When trying to burn any file (tried multiple MP3s ripped by the same WMP11
instance) to AUDIO CD:

Windows Media Player encountered a problem while burning the file to the
disc. For additional assistance, click Web Help.

WEB HELP:

Technical Details:

This error might have been triggered by an error in another program or
component of Windows. The following information describes the original error.

Original Error Code: 80040154
Original Error Message: Class not registered.

The same files PLAY just fine on my system. I can RIP things too just fine.
But, I can no longer BURN anything.

The only change I have made to WMP since it last worked (and it may be
unrelated, but it is all I can think of), is I set WMP11-64 to be my default
as opposed to WMP11-32. To do this, I ran "unregmp2.exe /SwapTo:64" from an
ELEVATED command prompt.

BUT, when I manually open WMP11-32, I have the exact same error message
appear when I try to BURN.

HELP!
Scott

You can run--
unregmp2.exe /SwapTo:32
to undo that if you think that's related. Does running:
regsvr32 wmp.dll
have any effect on this....... ? That'll break progressive download in IE
(fixable via resetting reg settings --
http://zachd.com/pss/VistaAssocFix.reg ), though.

This is pretty much the first CD burning issue I've seen on Vista.
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#xpcdburn
is my old information for this type of failure.

And ... I would use Nero to burn here anyways. WMP's burning engine (IMAPI)
doesn't support gapless discs, and I like 'em that way. As always, just
speaking for myself. =)

Re: WMP11 Error 80040154 on Burn Only

Thanks Zachd --

I went ahead and formatted my drive and reinstalled Vista Ultimate. I was
having all kinds of strange things -- as we have discussed in other threads
-- so hopefully this cleared everything up.

If not, I will be back!

Thanks again,
Scott
