| | Outlook .pst from circa 1998-2000 to 2007 I've just converted from a 200 Pro system to a new PC running Vista. A fresh, clean install. Prior to the setting up the new system, I exported my Outlook contacts and messages via the Export command to an external hard drive. The drive is now connected to the Vista system and all is well except I can't open the backup.pst in Outlook 2007. There are some very good suggestions in the other posts in this forum, but not luck. I've tried the scanpst.exe approach. It found 7 just 7 errors. The backup.pst file is not very large ![]() When I attempt to open it in 2007 with File-Open-Outlook Data File, it just shows a new Personal Files header in the browser pane. When I attempt to open it in 2007 with File-Import and Export -Select File Type-Personal Folder File (.pst) it pauses shows nothing. Any suggestions? Thank you. A happy Vista Newbie. |

| | Re: Outlook .pst from circa 1998-2000 to 2007 You need to add the file to Outlook in File - Data File Management. Once you have copied all the data you want to a single pst file you should set that pst as the default mail handler, if it isn't that already, and then remove the one you don't want in Data File Management. | | Re: Outlook .pst from circa 1998-2000 to 2007 Thanks Dominic, but all I get are two items in the browser pane: - Deleted items - Search folders and both are empty. What did I do wrong? |

| | Re: Outlook .pst from circa 1998-2000 to 2007 Did you copy your original main pst file - default name Outlook.pst - to the external drive? If so, open that with Data File Management. If you exported to a file, import from the file type - using File - Import and Export - you exported to. Can you see the file you exported to on the external drive? What relevant files do you see on the external drive and how large are they?
