| | A first from Dell: giving customers a choice of Windows operating systems Today in a newspaper advertisement for Dell computers directed at business customers, the ad gave customers a choice of Windows Vista or Windows XP for each computer being offered. I've never seen anything like this before. In the past, once a new version of Windows had come out, Dell sold all its new computers with the new version. What this seems to indicate is that Dell is aware of the problems with Vista and the unhappiness many users have expressed about it, so they want to attract more customers by giving them the option of buying XP. |

| | Re: A first from Dell: giving customers a choice of Windows operating systems Yea, but who would want a crappy HP machine anyway? Even though Dell is "losing it" their machines are much better than HP. Oh the poor consumer.... People who buy HP machines don't know any better, therefore don't know they have choices (or don't understand it) "Richard Urban" <richardurbanREMOVETHIS@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:OSjI4m4hHHA.1624@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > What about the "fact" that HP is out selling Dell - and HP is offering > only Vista? > > Dell is just losing it and they are grabbing at a life ring. > > -- > > > Regards, > > Richard Urban > Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User > (For email, remove the obvious from my address) > > Quote from George Ankner: > If you knew as much as you think you know, > You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew! > > "Larry" <larry328NOSPAM@att.net> wrote in message > news:Opu34i4hHHA.4984@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >> Today in a newspaper advertisement for Dell computers directed at >> business >> customers, the ad gave customers a choice of Windows Vista or Windows XP >> for >> each computer being offered. When I used to work in the IT department of a large company it was routine to spend a year or so testing and planning such a major upgrade. Meanwhile we still needed new PCs. |

Are HP refusing to supply XP or just not advertising XP anymore? If HP refuse to supply XP at this early stage in Vistas life they're crazy. |
