| | Overall Vista Bugs I have been testing both x86 and x64 since day betas were released to GP. In my 31 years business and personal experience with systems and software, IMHO, these betas have been released with toooooooo.... many problems. Vista at this stage is not fun; it's down right ugly. |

The driver problems are annoying, but are understandable. My primary concern continues to be the incredibly poor design of many of the user interfaces. Windows Explorer and the "security" features are especially bad. Microsoft really needs to re-think the user interfaces and use designs that are clean, functional, simple and overall user friendly. Every driver found, no problems, no one single blue screen. My desktop took a little more work to find drivers, but I've gotten everything except my HD Tuner to work and it is quite solid too. My impression is that it works well on 'common oem boxes' (mine are Dells), but struggles with more 'put together' boxes, particularly with more bleeding edge technology like SLI. Makes sense -- make sure the masses work first. Tom |

| | Re: Overall Vista Bugs I agree. And I just read on another site that MS is 'testing the waters' with a $ 449 US retail at release. Also, just read that SP3, a major update being released 1st half of 2007 and rumor has it MS is working on a SP4 for XP. Just how far out is a reliable, functional and friendly Vista? BTW, try using the search function to find files.... a real 'E Ticket' ride. ![]() "Robert Robinson" wrote: > > My primary concern continues to be the incredibly poor design of many of > the user interfaces. | | Re: Overall Vista Bugs Just find them and report them. MS will get them fixed. | | Re: Overall Vista Bugs Take the pricing with a grain of salt. There are seven sku's and only the Ultimate edition would be more than XP Pro full is today. | | RE: Overall Vista Bugs No propblems on my installation... I agree, it seems to be better supported on more common systems, not the cutting edge. I works just fine on my Dell Inspiron 6000. I only got one BSOD one time when resuming from sleep. Vista found all my drivers, except one for my phone modem and one for the audio. Windows Update found the drivers for both very easily. I know I only have 512mb memory, but although startup was pretty fast with nothing running(just after install) after installing a few programs that run at startup, it has become very slow. That is the only problem I have that I would like to see fixed: improved performance. -- Robert Firth "Jack K" wrote: > I have been testing both x86 and x64 since day betas were released to GP. | | Re: Overall Vista Bugs Beta's released with bugs?! Say it ain't so! ![]() Bugs are a natural part of a beta program; be it from Microsoft or some individual software designer. You need to report the bugs and the "ugly" stuff you find to MS. That will help in the development and help the software. Personally, I've been using Vista for quite a while as well, and I find it a GREAT OS. Even in Beta stage. --------------------------------------------------------------- Dustin Harper Vista Help and Knowledge Base: http://www.vistarip.com "milleron" <millerDOT90@SPAMLESSosu.edu> wrote in message news:n9m8921j8abu2g3q61utqlklne26jc6iq8@4ax.com... > On Fri, 16 Jun 2006 08:17:02 -0700, Jack K <Jack > K@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > >>I have been testing both x86 and x64 since day betas were released to GP. >>In >>my 31 years business and personal experience with systems and software, >>IMHO, >>these betas have been released with toooooooo.... many problems.
