Reinstalled Vista - DirectX

I have new PC with Vista Home Basic .
Was having huge problems with hang when trying to copy data etc to CD/DVD
using vista. Thought the installation may not have gone well and RE-INSTALLED
Vista.
Still could not copy/burn.

The pc came with bundle disc for Nero and Power DVD Suite (Cyberlink).
This would not install because the versiopns were not compatible with Vista.
Later I was given a COPY of a later version and was able to install Nero but
NOT Power DVD Suite. I will install to approx. 49% then freeze. Have to use
task manager to end process etc.

When I reinstalled Vista, did I have Directx on the DVD? I have opened the
files on the disc and cannot find it. I reinstalled drivers for
Printer/Camera etc but didn't think about Directx. I have searched for it but
can only find Directx in OLD files from the original installation, which I
can't use now. Ok, so if I don't have Directx, which version do I d/load from
M/Soft, (there are so many choices). AND could this be why I can't install
Power DVD?
Thanks in anticipation of your help.

RE: Reinstalled Vista - DirectX

Nero won't work with Vista; try http://www.imgburn.com
Power DVD needs an update, if it is the right version. Earlier versions
won't take.

I'm using Nero (latest version) and Power DVD (latest version) with
vista 32 bit with no problems.
