Crashed superfetch

Is this serious?
Seems like anything that does heavy image access across my USB drives fails.
I've used Lightroom andThumbs Plus.
Either seem to trigger system failures as they attempt to read about 1,5TB
of images off a colection of 6 USB drives.

All of this used to work fine under XP, but the C: drive died on that
machine and I could only by Vista on a new PC when I took the opportunity to
upgrade ... serves me right for buying release 1.0 of anything

You haven't given any information about the failures, error messages and
error codes. How do you know it's superfetch? Have you looked in event
viewer?

What's the system configuration, hardware, Vista version, etc?
