Typing Language Problem

I just purchased a new computer with Windows Vista Home Premium.
I clicked on Regeional Language setting and added Korean language like I did
on another computer that has Windows XP.
I see the Korean language bar at the bottom of monitor, but I can't type
Korean for some reason. It only types English.
What's the problem with this Windows Vista? I though it would be better than
XP version.

Re: Typing Language Problem

Hi,

So I don't know how did you do it with XP, but the following are for your
information:

(1) Windows Vista ? an ever expanding view of Internationalization :

(2) How do I get additional language files?
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...b5ecc1033.mspx

(3) Change your input language:
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...352bc1033.mspx
Note: You may wish to see Change Keyboard Layout as well list at the bottom
of the page.

The first one gives detailed information about Vista's MUI capabilities.

As far as I know, Home Premium does not support MUI, and you need either an
Ultimate (for consumer) or Enterprise (for business) for OS-level MUI
support. The workaround is to have an application-level IME support by
installing applications comes with IME (e.g. Korean version of Office).

Finally, there are different keyboard layouts for Asian languages. For
example, one could choose Chinese input but using English keyboard for
typing "English" and then switch to another keyboard for typing Chinese.

OK, the above are based on my limited knowledge and hope this helps.

Good luck.
