| | My PCs wake up by themselves from standby or hibernation! I'm having this problem since some months now: my PC randomly powers up by itself when in hibernation or standby, which is very annoying. I also have a laptop which has the same problem. This sucks, since sometimes i want to use it and the battery has been killed because it powered itself up and ran all the time without me knowing. Both machines are running Vista. All the wake-up options in the BIOS are disabled, and there are no wakeup timers in the BIOS. The laptop powers up even if nothing is connected to it (no network, no usb, no nothing). What the hell is going on? How can I prevent my pcs from waking up by themselves? When I put them in hibernation or to sleep, i just want them to stay there until I power them up by myself. Just using shutdown is not a solution ![]() I hope you can help me to find a solution... hal |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Hi Hal9000, Check Task Scheduler for any scheduled tasks that have "wake the computer" under the Conditions tab. Don't forget to check "Show hidden tasks" under View in right pane. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| | Re: My PCs wake up by themselves from standby or hibernation! Not levity. Vibration moving the mouse often wakes computers up. Turning it over prevents this. I checked mine to & it was enabled with wake to without any problems. I guess if all else fails you can turn off "sleep" & "hybrid" & just use "hibernation" in Power Management. It'll take 30 seconds or so wakeup, but at least everything will shut down completely. No more hunting for what might be running to cause it to wake up. Shawn |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | I found this new method for you. 1. open Command Prompt 2. type "powercfg -lastwakup" 3. hit enter This will tell you what woke up your computer the last time. Now, the trick will be IDing what is spits up is the cause. Hope this helps, Shawn |
