Re: Active Sync Center has stopped working

Did you install SatelliteTVforPC on this system?

According to the crash dumps I see associated with that, you're getting this
because you have installed SatelliteTVforPC to your system and it has
installed its own version of WMP.dll to the system:
===
0:006> vertarget
Windows Vista Version 6000
0:006> lmv mwmp*
Image path: C:\Program Files\SatelliteTVforPC\2006\Elite\wmp.dll
Image name: wmp.dll
File version: 10.0.0.3802
===

This is hideously incompatible with Vista and should never be put on a Vista
system. If this is what happened to you, you should definitely follow up
with SatelliteTVforPC.

I've got a KB request in place about this issue to add info on how to fix to
the Microsoft sites. Once that gets finished, we'll likely hook this up on
the back end so people that hit this crash bucket get pointed to it.

http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#sattv
should cover how you can fix this for now. The short-short version is run:
regsvr32 wmp.dll

Speaking for myself only.
See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
