| | Deleting files in Vista Anybody got any idea what's going on here? Disk Space: 126 Gig Free Delete a 3 Gig File Disk Space: 126 Gig Free It seems not to be reallocating the space used by deleted files as free space. Erm, any thoughts? Additionally, if I highlight 2 or more files, ie, in this stances 3 .img files and 3 .mpg files, right click, and choose delete, it looks like it deletes them all, then the 3 mpg's reappear. I then highlight those 3 mpgs and delete them again, but the Free Space is never returned. Cya Simon |

Try deleting it from there, and see if you get a reported increase in available disk space. As to your observations with .img and .mpg files, I don't have a clue what is going on there. --- Jay (remove dashes for legal email address) |

So there's nothing there... > > Try deleting it from there, and see if you get a reported increase in > available disk space. In light of the above, there's nothing there. > > As to your observations with .img and .mpg files, I don't have a clue > what is going on there. > Let's focus on the missing free space then. If I go and try to do a disk cleanup, there is nothing in the list that is reportedly of my three meg. Recycle Bin is empty, everything else is a few meg at best. Cya Simon |

Maybe Vista is keeping a shadow copy of some deleted file types. Disclaimer...I've no experience with this feature, only read about it in a Vista book...the book seems to imply this is a super-recycle bin. -John O |
