| | Power Button - Set to ask Is there a way to get Vista to ask you want to do when the power button is pressed, like it did in XP. I know it sounds silly but you need it when using Media Centre via a remote. |

| | Re: Power Button - Set to ask Bill While the 4 examples you cited are true, they really do not apply to the question. I doubt that shutting off your car the wrong way will require you to replace the engine. Shutting down a computer the wrong way can cause the computer to stop working or even become useless. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "BillD" <BillD@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E150EF9F-B596-4296-8AA8-05A1770F0D46@microsoft.com... > > > "Fieldzy" wrote: > >> Is there a way to get Vista to ask you want to do when the power button >> is >> pressed > > Does your Hi-Fi Stere ask for confirmation when you press the power > button? | | Re: Power Button - Set to ask Those options are no longer available in Vista. You can configure what you want to happen when the power button is pressed in the Control Panel/Power Options. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "Fieldzy" <Fieldzy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F8BC1FDE-92D3-4B93-B3E3-9E638E59F9DF@microsoft.com... > Is there a way to get Vista to ask you want to do when the power button is > pressed, like it did in XP. > I know it sounds silly but you need it when using Media Centre via a > remote. |

| | RE: Power Button - Set to ask These are all true but your TV, Hi-Fi or Light don't have the options to restart, Log off or Shutdown. Basically you need to option when you are using Vista as a Media Centre and you are not sitting at the PC and are operating it via a remote control only. No keyboard or Mouse to operate the Windows GUI.
