Vista activation PLEASE?

Just upgraded from XP Pro to Vista Home Premium (stupid me!). Activation
screens say my product key is invalid or already in use. So I called customer
support.
CALL 1; "read MS help KB931276". Followed carefully, won't activate.
CALL 2; Results= you need to call 866-740-1256.
CALL 3; Results= you need to call 888-346-5229.
CALL 4: Results= rings indefinately, nobody answers.
For this I paid $140? What a scam Microsoft is running! Selling junk for top
dollar and playing pass the buck when people want the support they paid top $
for.
CAN ANYBODY TELL ME HOW TO GET THIS PIG ACTIVATED?

Re: Vista activation PLEASE?

Windows Vista Home is not a supported upgrade path over
an existing Windows XP Professional installation. You would
need either Windows Vista Ultimate or Business Edition in
order to upgrade over Windows XP Professional to ensure
successful product activation.

Hi Paul,

Carey is right. However, if you want to use the one you have you must do a clean install with it 1st (full format) with out entering the PID#. Then rerun the installation again from within the 1st finished install, this time entering your PID# and then activate it. Not sure if this will violate your EULA since you have XP pro instead of XP home, but since it's technically a downgrade from pro to home instead of the other way around and you own a copy of XP ???? Anyway, this will do it for you. Guess you can call Microsoft again to check if it's ok.
